Co-op Software Developer

Summary

Join Semaphore Solutions, a global leader in SaaS solutions for life sciences, as a Co-op Software Developer! This 8-month co-op (with possible extension) starting in April/May 2025, will have you contributing to the development and support of software systems for high-complexity laboratories. You'll work on projects like Clarity LIMS, collaborating with experienced developers and scientists. This role offers hands-on training, mentorship, and exposure to the intersection of software engineering and life sciences. The position is remote-first, with a hybrid option in Victoria, and offers a competitive hourly salary.

Requirements

• 3rd or 4th-year Computer Science/Software Engineering student
• A solid understanding of computer science fundamentals gained through coursework, personal projects and professional experience
• Experience with development languages such as Python, Java, C#, Angular, and React
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, able to adapt and quickly identify the appropriate language, tools, and frameworks for the task

Responsibilities

• Contribute software code on assigned client projects
• Resolve software issues, ensuring clients receive support for their LIMS needs
• Contribute to software development tasks in an agile environment, attending standups and regularly providing updates on progress/blockers
• Ensure the quality of code and system functionality through testing and validation
• Maintain clear and concise technical documentation

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of or interest in genomics, bioinformatics, or laboratory science
• Previous experience working in an agile environment or familiarity with agile methodologies
