Summary

Join Filmhub, a global film and TV distributor, as a Copywriter. This full-time role requires a deep understanding of the film industry and involves creating engaging content for various platforms. You will craft web copy, press releases, sales materials, and social media campaigns, showcasing Filmhub's value to filmmakers and industry professionals. The ideal candidate possesses proven experience writing for industry publications, exceptional storytelling skills, and a collaborative spirit. Location preference is Los Angeles or New York City. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a dynamic team and make a significant impact on the film distribution landscape.

Requirements

  • You have an in-depth understanding of the film business, including rights, licensing, theatrical distribution, and global film markets
  • Deep familiarity with IFTA is essential
  • Strong understanding of how film markets (e.g., Cannes, TIFF, AFM) operate differently from festivals
  • You’ve written for respected publications such as Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, Deadline, or equivalent outlets
  • A portfolio showcasing work for industry publications, press releases, or marketing campaigns
  • Exceptional ability to craft concise, impactful narratives for press releases, web copy, email campaigns, and social media
  • You can turn technical and industry-specific information into content that inspires and engages
  • You thrive in cross-functional teams and can align content with broader marketing, PR, and sales goals
  • Ideally based in Los Angeles or New York City, with an understanding of the local film industry ecosystems

Responsibilities

  • Create dynamic, impactful content for Filmhub’s website, email campaigns, and newsletters to engage and inform industry professionals
  • Craft professional press releases that announce Filmhub’s achievements, acquisitions, and partnerships, aligning with industry standards
  • Develop polished pitch decks, sales one-sheets, and presentations to showcase Filmhub’s value to filmmakers, distributors, and strategic partners
  • Write compelling, platform-specific content to drive engagement and grow Filmhub’s presence on LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, and more
  • Translate complex industry concepts, like rights licensing or film market dynamics, into captivating narratives for diverse audiences
  • Leverage your knowledge of film rights, theatrical distribution, sales agents vs. distributors, and film markets/festivals to ensure accuracy and authenticity in all materials

Preferred Qualifications

  • Share a story or experience: Mention a time you wrote for an industry-leading publication (Variety, Deadline, etc.) or successfully crafted a press release that landed media attention
  • Highlight your passion: Talk about your excitement for empowering filmmakers and transforming distribution
  • Include a diverse mix of your work: Press releases, articles, sales materials, and social media campaigns. If possible, feature examples related to film rights, licensing, or distribution
  • Create a mini case study: Briefly explain the impact of a project—e.g., how your writing contributed to audience engagement, sales growth, or media coverage
  • Research recent Filmhub achievements or acquisitions and mention them in your application
  • Reference current trends in film distribution (e.g., how global streaming is reshaping rights licensing) and tie them back to how you can contribute
  • Consider creating a mock press release as part of your application. Write a punchy, hypothetical announcement for Filmhub acquiring a high-profile indie title for global streaming rights. Show your industry knowledge, attention to tone, and storytelling skills
