Credit Risk Manager

Summary

Join Toast's Fintech Risk team as a Manager, Credit Risk, leading a team of analysts in portfolio and acquisition risk analysis. You will define and improve credit risk management strategy, identify and mitigate emerging risks, and develop comprehensive risk reporting. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive data-driven decision-making and mentor your team. This role requires 6+ years in consumer or small business lending with a quantitative focus, team management experience, and proficiency in SQL and Python. A quantitative degree is preferred, and a competitive salary and benefits package are offered.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in consumer or small business lending in a quantitative credit risk strategy role, preferably in Fintech
• At least 3 years of experience in managing a team
• Proficiency in SQL and Python, with experience in data visualization tools such as Hex/ Tableau/Looker/Sigma
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to successfully convey complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences
• An inquisitive nature, with an affinity for exploring variances, recognizing root causes, and spearheading data-driven decision-making
• Proven ability to collaborate with various teams, promote teamwork, and build consensus

Responsibilities

• Define, implement, and continuously improve the credit risk management strategy across the lending life cycle, ensuring alignment with company appetite
• Proactively identify emerging risks and propose data-driven mitigation solutions to minimize potential losses and optimize returns
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive and timely reporting framework to provide risk visibility to management, ensuring that risk and return are optimized and in line with company goals
• Foster deep partnerships with Product Management, Operations, Engineering, Data Science, Accounting, and Strategic Finance teams, advancing alignment and facilitating data-driven decision-making
• Mentor and coach a team of high-performing credit risk analysts, fostering their professional growth and development
• Maintain and update credit risk policy documents and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices

Preferred Qualifications

• Quantitative degree (Mathematics/Statistics/Economics/Operations Research)
• Masters Degree or MBA
