Summary
Join the Sierra Club as a Data Analyst, Revenue and help revenue teams understand donation patterns to increase revenue. You will build self-service reports and dashboards, work with fundraising staff, and foster data-informed decision-making. Responsibilities include developing revenue reports and forecasts, analyzing revenue streams and donor segments, preparing ad-hoc reports, conducting donor analysis, segmenting donors, assisting with data management, identifying data discrepancies, participating in cross-functional projects, documenting data processes, and identifying process improvements. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of relevant data analytics experience, 2+ years using fundraising CRMs, experience with reporting tools like Tableau or Looker Studio, proficiency in SQL and Excel, and strong analytical and organizational skills. The position offers a competitive salary of $85,000-$95,000, excellent benefits including medical, dental, vision, and a 401(k) plan, and is remote within the US.
Requirements
- 3 + years of experience or equivalent in a relevant data and analytics role (data analyst, data scientist, data manager, data engineer) with emphasis on producing meaningful insights
- 2 + years of experience using common fundraising CRMs for revenue tracking and reporting
- Experience creating reports, dashboards, and visualizations in Tableau, Looker Studio, or similar software tools
- Proficiency using SQL to create and extract custom data sets from multiple tables
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including utilizing formulas, charts, and pivot tables
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills and comfort with dynamic work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Comfortable working independently and as part of cross-functional teams

Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and distribute regular revenue reports, dashboards, and forecasts for major giving, tracking progress against goals, and identifying trends
- Analyze major giving revenue streams, donor segments, and solicitation strategies to identify opportunities for growth and optimization
- Prepare ad-hoc reports and analyses as requested by leadership
- Conduct in-depth analysis of all donors to identify prospective mid-level and major donors, understand donor behavior, and estimate future giving
- Segment donors to facilitate targeted outreach strategies
- Assist with data imports, exports, and data hygiene within Salesforce and back-end data systems
- Identify data discrepancies and work to ensure data accuracy and consistency across all platforms
- Participate in cross-functional projects related to fundraising data management, system integrations, and reporting
- Document current data processes, workflows, and policies within Salesforce and other relevant systems
- Identify opportunities for process efficiencies and improvements related to data collection, organization, and reporting for major gifts and other fundraising work
- Collaborate with the Advancement team to implement and reinforce data governance policies
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency using Salesforce for revenue tracking and reporting
- Experience using Civis Platform
- Proficiency in either Python or R for data cleaning and analysis
- Understanding of Major Donor / Major Giving fundraising work
- Previous work experience in medium-sized nonprofit advocacy organizations or a candidate's political campaign
