Data Engineer, Senior Manager

Summary

Join Extreme Networks, a global leader in cloud-driven networking solutions, as a Senior Manager of Data Engineering! This remote role, reporting to the Data Architect, involves developing data flows, ETL/ELT pipelines, and analytics solutions for our enterprise data & analytics platform. You will collaborate with stakeholders across various business functions, primarily Sales, Sales Ops, and Marketing, to define data rules and reporting needs. This position requires hands-on development using modern tools like Snowflake, DBT, and Tableau, adhering to best practices. The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience in data engineering, data modeling, and BI, along with strong communication skills. Requirements

• Highly self-motivated and able to work independently as well as in a team environment
• 5+ years hands-on experience working with BI, ETL/ELT data pipeline and integration patterns, and data modeling best practices, with in-depth knowledge of data governance, data engineering, visualization, and business intelligence functions
• 3+ years of experience with more than 1 database system, such as Redshift, Azure Synapse, BigQuery, Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL
• 1+ years hands-on experience developing on modern data warehousing tools (e.g. Spark, Redshift, Snowflake, Azure Aurora, BigQuery, Incorta), deep expertise with SQL, and high proficiency building in BI solutions (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI, Looker, or other BI reporting layers)
• Deep experience implementing a variety of data warehousing concepts and methodologies, including snapshotting, incremental data loads, SCDs, and star schemas
• Advanced understanding of SQL development in both stored procedures and leveraging ETL/ELT tools, such as Informatica, DBT, SSIS, Matillion
• Can be highly flexible in adapting to the needs of the team and organization
• Ability to clearly communicate complex technical ideas to both technical and business stakeholders, with demonstrated written and verbal presentation skills to present compelling recommendations

Responsibilities

• Develop analytical data models that provide actionable insights across a range of business functions
• Develop data models, ingestion, transformation, and consumption layers for a scalable data platform in support of growing use cases and user personas
• Partner with business teams to gather data requirements and design scalable solutions
• Implement the end-to-end analytics solution using a modern technical stack, e.g. Snowflake, DBT, Fivetran, Informatica, Tableau
• Develop using best-practice data modeling techniques, leveraging SQL, ETL/ELT tools, and cloud-driven data architecture

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience is a plus in managing the ingestion and modeling of the following business application data sources: Salesforce, Oracle Suite (EBS, Fusion, HCM), and Jira
• Comfort in working within an agile team, leveraging DevOps concepts and agile-enablement tools including Jira, Confluence, and Github
• Working experience with DevOps best practices and version control policies and platforms, e.g. Git
