Summary
Join VetsEZ as a remote Data Scientist supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs. Leverage advanced analytics, statistical modeling, and machine learning to extract actionable insights from complex datasets. Requirements
- Obtain a Bachelorβs degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent discipline
- Have 8+ years of experience
- Demonstrate proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL for data analysis and modeling
- Show experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
- Possess a strong understanding of machine learning algorithms, statistical methods, and predictive modeling techniques
- Show familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and big data technologies
- Exhibit the ability to communicate complex data insights effectively to technical and non-technical audiences
- Possess strong problem-solving skills, with a focus on practical and actionable results
- Demonstrate knowledge of data privacy and security regulations and best practices
- Possess effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across teams and departments
Responsibilities
- Collect, clean, and preprocess large datasets from various sources to ensure data quality and consistency
- Apply statistical analysis, machine learning models, and predictive analytics to solve complex problems and uncover trends and patterns
- Build, test, and deploy scalable data models, algorithms, and workflows to support organizational objectives
- Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and data visualizations to communicate insights to stakeholders effectively
- Collaborate with project managers, business analysts, and technical teams to understand business goals and deliver data-driven solutions
- Conduct hypothesis testing and design experiments to optimize processes and outcomes
- Utilize tools and techniques for data mining, natural language processing (NLP), and predictive analytics
- Document data processes, models, and workflows to ensure reproducibility and knowledge sharing
- Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support team objectives and ensure the success of the project
Preferred Qualifications
- Have experience working with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) or other federal agencies
- Obtain the following certifications: MongoDB certification, AWS certification, Azure certification, etc
- Have experience in SAFe/Agile Software Development and the ability to work effectively in a multi-stakeholder and DevSecOps environment
- Be able to obtain a government clearance
