Summary
Join Gopuff's consumer science team as a Data Scientist and contribute to impactful projects related to Search, Browse, and Recommendations. You will build and enhance machine learning models, work with product and engineering teams, present findings to leadership, and identify data gaps. This hybrid position, based in Philadelphia, PA or Aventura, FL, or remotely in approved hub markets, offers the opportunity to refine existing systems and significantly impact Gopuff's success. You'll own projects from prototype to production, focusing on improving the user discovery experience. The role requires a strong background in data science, machine learning, and statistical modeling, along with excellent communication skills. Gopuff offers competitive compensation and benefits.
Requirements
- MS or PhD in statistics, mathematics, analytics, computer science or another quantitative field AND 3+ years of experience as a data scientist in eCommerce or Logistics
- Experience applying descriptive statistics, machine learning, predictive modeling, and visualization techniques to solve challenging business problems
- Expert knowledge in: Statistical and machine learning techniques
- Expert knowledge in: Data Science libraries in a programming or scripting language
- Expert knowledge in: Machine learning workflows
- Proficient in: Python + related ML libraries and frameworks (Ex: PyTorch)
- Proficient in SQL and working with large datasets
- Excellent communication and presentation skills (to both technical and business audiences)
Responsibilities
- Be innovative
- Aim to improve consumer experience for sustainable growth
- Build and enhance machine learning, statistical and causal models for product search, ranking and recommendation that support various business goals
- Work closely with product and engineering team to develop and deploy solutions with cross-functional support
- Build models that support real-time events and internal stakeholder decisions across the business
- Present work to business and engineering leadership
- Identify gaps in existing data, create data product specs, and work with Engineering teams to implement enhanced data solutions
- Partner with Analytics team members and other functions to share insights and best practices, ensuring consistency of data-driven decision-making throughout the org
- Are committed to automation and productionalized solutions whenever possible
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and model development and deployment technologies (e.g., Databricks)
- Experience about building ranking and recommendation models in production environments
Benefits
Remote US Range: $130,000 - $150,000
