Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in database administration, operations, or reliability engineering roles
• Strong expertise in managing database systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB, ElasticSearch and Snowflake
• Advanced knowledge of database performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting techniques
• Hands-on experience with automation and configuration management tools like Ansible, Chef, Git, Gitlab or Puppet
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Bash to build automation tools and streamline processes
• In-depth understanding of database replication, clustering, and high availability architectures
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and their database services
• Exceptional problem-solving skills combined with strong interpersonal and communication abilities

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of Database Reliability Engineers (SREs), providing mentorship, technical guidance, and fostering professional growth
• Develop and implement comprehensive strategies for monitoring, diagnosing, and resolving database performance and availability issues
• Collaborate with development teams to design and refine database schemas, queries, and configurations, ensuring efficiency and scalability
• Automate repetitive tasks and build tools to streamline database operations, focusing on efficient deployment, monitoring, and maintenance processes
• Conduct proactive performance tuning and capacity planning exercises to identify and address bottlenecks before they impact the business
• Participate in incident response and on-call rotations, ensuring database-related issues are resolved promptly and effectively
• Implement and maintain robust backup and disaster recovery solutions to safeguard data integrity and ensure business continuity
• Stay current with the latest industry trends, tools, and best practices in database management and reliability engineering
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define, implement, and track service level objectives (SLOs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) for database system
