Design Engineer Presence

Summary

Join Stripe's Web Presence and Platform team as a Design Engineer and contribute to the creation and maintenance of Stripe.com and other public-facing websites. Collaborate with designers and partners to build new experiences and maintain existing content. Prototype and implement web animations and interactive product launch materials. Utilize and extend the team's design systems. Work closely with other design engineers, sharing knowledge and building a culture of excellence. Focus on creating beautiful, best-in-class user experiences that solve complex problems. The role involves integrating the web platform with self-serve authoring and experimentation tools.

Requirements

• 3+ years of relevant web front-end development or creative technology experience at a tech-forward, product-driven company
• Advanced knowledge of modern HTML and CSS
• Experience writing clear, elegant code in a team environment
• A zeal for the web as a storytelling medium, demonstrable through a portfolio of design work and frontend code showcasing design systems, engaging microsites, Figma plugins, webGL experiments, CSS art, or anything else—you tell us
• Experience designing and building public facing websites that work elegantly across commonly used browsers and devices

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with our team’s designers and partners to both create new experiences for and maintain Stripe.com
• Work closely with other design engineers, pairing, mentoring, and continually building a culture of excellence
• Prototype and implement web animations and interaction-heavy product launch materials
• Build beautiful, best-in-class end-user experiences to solve complex problems
• Utilize, maintain, and extend our design systems
• Integrate our web platform with self-serve authoring and experimentation

Preferred Qualifications

• A good understanding of the formal elements of design, not just limited to the web and including typography, layout, balance, and proportion
• Proficiency with React, with a focus on interactions, animation, performance, and polish
• Experience with A/B testing, synthetic monitoring, or accessibility testing
