Summary
Join Next Matter in Canada as a DevOps Engineer to lead our expansion into North America and transition our infrastructure to a multi-cloud environment. As our first Canadian hire, you will be crucial to the regional deployment's success. You will design, build, and manage our core infrastructure, develop CI/CD pipelines, implement observability tools, and provide on-call support. This role offers a unique opportunity to grow with a rapidly expanding SaaS startup and significantly impact our infrastructure. You will collaborate with the engineering team to overcome challenges and ensure the reliability and scalability of our platform. This is a remote-first position with significant flexibility.
Requirements
- Demonstrate a sense of ownership and the ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision, maintaining a focus on impactful outcomes aligned with business objectives
- Possess extensive professional experience in building and maintaining cloud-native infrastructure and services across AWS, Azure, and GCP
- Possess extensive professional experience in developing complex systems using an infrastructure-as-code approach (Terraform)
- Possess extensive professional experience in operating containerised services in multi-cloud environments
- Demonstrate proficiency in managing cloud-based and self-hosted CI/CD systems (GitLab)
- Possess a strong understanding of observability principles and experience with industry-standard tools (Datadog, Sentry)
- Demonstrate a collaborative mindset, with a strong desire to work with peers across all levels to drive success
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and manage the core infrastructure of the Next Matter platform, ensuring scalability, compliance, performance, and security. This includes building cloud-native and cloud-agnostic service infrastructure using best practices, and infrastructure-as-code principles
- Develop and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines to enhance delivery efficiency across the Engineering organisation
- Implement and manage infrastructure and service observability, alerting, and reporting to ensure reliability and quick issue resolution
- Provide on-call infrastructure and DevOps support for the Engineering team, addressing operational challenges effectively
- Work collaboratively with the rest of the Engineering team to proactively identify and solve blockers / bottlenecks
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar compliance frameworks in the context of infrastructure and DevOps
- Experience in building scalable platforms using Kubernetes (K8s)
- Possess cloud-specific certifications (AWS Professional , Azure / GCP equivalent)
- Experience working with an internationally distributed team
