Summary
Join Rhino Entertainment's Tech team as a DevOps Engineer and play a key role in building, maintaining, and improving our development and deployment pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and platform tooling. Reporting to the Head of IT & Security, you will work autonomously, contribute to technical discussions, and collaborate with engineers and stakeholders. This role requires a strong DevOps foundation and a desire to take ownership and drive engineering excellence. You will write and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), manage CI/CD jobs, provision cloud infrastructure, improve environments and release pipelines, and consistently follow engineering best practices. You will also contribute to code reviews, reduce technical debt, ensure proper testing and monitoring, and utilize AI pair programming tools. Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in a DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering role
- Proficiency with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP) and IaC tools (e.g., Terraform)
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD concepts and tooling (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, ArgoCD, etc.)
- Familiarity with container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker) and Helm
- Experience implementing monitoring, alerting, and logging solutions (e.g., DataDog, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK)
- Strong scripting skills (e.g., Bash, Python, Go)
- Knowledge of secure cloud configurations, IAM, WAFs, and least privilege principles
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Comfortable working independently and making sound decisions
Responsibilities
- Write clean, maintainable Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) with minimal guidance
- Independently manage and debug CI/CD jobs and release pipelines
- Provision cloud infrastructure using IaC, Helm, and container-based workflows
- Fully understand and improve the environments and release pipelines
- Iterate on and maintain local development environments
- Document CI/CD and release workflows for team use
- Consistently follow and promote engineering best practices
- Proactively contribute to code reviews and meaningful technical discussions
- Reduce technical debt through refactoring and automation
- Ensure all work includes proper testing, logging, and monitoring
- Deliver quality work reliably, with low reopen rates
- Use AI pair programming tools to accelerate delivery
- Own and maintain internal tools like CLI, deployment sandbox, scaffolding
- Support cross-team adoption of self-service tools and automation
- Coordinate and contribute to product release processes
- Implement and tune application and infrastructure alerts
- Evaluate and apply WAF rules, IAM policies, and cloud security best practices
- Understand and apply least privilege principles in cloud access controls
- Use observability tools to monitor, trace, and debug issues
- Advocate for secure defaults, infrastructure hardening, and audit-ready configurations
- Contribute to threat modelling, secure design reviews, and infrastructure risk assessments
- Support the implementation of automated security scans, vulnerability detection, and policy enforcement tools
- Communicate task status, blockers, and solutions
- Break down epics and stories into actionable tasks
- Help organise branching strategies and release plans
- Write and advocate for decision logs for key architectural or implementation decisions
- Engage with third-party vendors to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
- Participate actively in team retrospectives, planning, and refinements
- Understand the business domain, key entities, and how systems interact
- Prioritise tasks based on business value, urgency, and impact
- Understand how the team’s projects align with broader company goals and vision
- Foster a supportive and collaborative team environment
- Offer timely, constructive feedback and be open to feedback
- Take initiative on long-standing technical issues and share findings with the team
