Summary

Join Datadog as a Director of Sales Engineering and lead a high-performing team driving technical strategy and growth within our Named Accounts segment. You will oversee key accounts and majors, accelerating adoption and revenue growth. As a senior leader, you'll define and execute technical go-to-market strategies, collaborating with Sales, Product, and Engineering leadership. This role involves impactful customer engagements across multi-cloud, observability, and security domains, shaping how Datadog's platform is adopted by large organizations. Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in Sales Engineering, Solutions Architecture, or similar pre-sales leadership roles, with multiple years of SE leadership experience or second line leadership
  • Proven expertise in enterprise SaaS, cloud, observability, and security solutions, with a track record of driving technical sales success at scale
  • Strong executive presence and ability to engage and influence C-level stakeholders in large, complex organizations
  • Exceptional leadership, coaching, and team-building capabilities, with experience scaling high-impact teams
  • Proven track record in building customer relationships and willing to get in the field and help with top down sale
  • Deep understanding of sales methodologies such as MEDDICC, Command of Message (CoM), or similar frameworks
  • Ability to travel up to 50% as needed

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, develop, and lead a team of Sales Engineers and first-line managers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, customer-centricity, and continuous growth
  • Drive executive-level engagement with customers and internal stakeholders, influencing decision-making and ensuring alignment between Datadogโ€™s capabilities and customer priorities
  • Establish a scalable framework for talent development, ensuring the team is equipped to navigate complex enterprise sales cycles and deliver value-driven technical solutions
  • Partner with Sales Leadership to define and execute Datadogโ€™s technical strategy for the Named Accounts segment, ensuring alignment with revenue goals and customer initiatives
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to C-suite and technical executives, articulating how Datadogโ€™s platform drives business transformation and operational excellence
  • Ensure continuous enablement of the Sales Engineering team on Datadogโ€™s expanding product portfolio, competitive landscape, and emerging industry trends
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering to shape roadmap priorities, leveraging customer insights to drive innovation and differentiation
  • Implement scalable pre-sales methodologies, optimizing processes for customer engagement, proof-of-value (POV) execution, and technical validation
  • Track and analyze key performance metrics to drive data-driven decision-making and enhance team effectiveness
  • Foster deep collaboration with Post-Sales, Customer Success, and Marketing teams to ensure a seamless customer journey from pre-sales to adoption and expansion
