Requirements
- 8+ years experience in fraud prevention strategy, preferably in the consumer finance/fintech industry
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful fraud prevention strategies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate patterns from large datasets into digestible and actionable insights that inform strategy
- Proficiency in SQL and Python
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build consensus across different levels and functions
- Experience managing and developing high-performing teams
- Outcome-oriented mindset with a strong bias for action
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, engineering, statistics, or other related discipline
- Comfort working and effectively communicating in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a global team
- Experience defining and driving a roadmap based on company performance goals
- A curiosity that will enable you to digest the Tala loan product business model quickly and find opportunities to create value
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of Tala’s global fraud strategy, encompassing all aspects of fraud prevention, detection, and response across loan portfolios
- Create visibility throughout Tala into our fraud strategy and opportunities, including obtaining buy-in from and influencing other key leaders in the organization
- Conduct in-depth analysis of portfolio and industry fraud trends to identify emerging risks and vulnerabilities
- Stay abreast of industry best practices, technology, and regulatory developments in the fraud space and incorporate them into Tala’s approach to fraud
- Oversee the execution of fraud prevention and detection initiatives, partnering closely with key stakeholders, including Credit Strategy, Product, Engineering, Operations, Data Science, Legal/Compliance, and Engineering teams to deliver effective solutions
- Define and monitor key performance indicators that provide visibility into fraud in Tala’s portfolios and the ability to measure the effectiveness of fraud prevention efforts
- Anticipate the need for evolution in our fraud risk mitigation strategy as part of Tala’s planned market and product growth
- Build, manage, and mentor a high-performing, global team of fraud professionals
