Summary
Join Upstream Rehabilitation as their Director of Clinical Efficiency, a strategic leadership role driving operational excellence and clinical productivity across a large outpatient physical therapy clinic network. Develop and implement strategies to optimize therapist capacity, streamline workflows, enhance clinical outcomes, and improve patient experience. Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), design tools and workflows, and support the development of education and training programs. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align initiatives and ensure consistent standards. Develop performance dashboards and contribute to strategic planning around staffing and incentive models. This role requires strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills, along with experience in outpatient physical therapy and multi-site operational leadership.
Requirements
- Degree in Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy, Healthcare Administration, or related field; DPT preferred
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in outpatient physical therapy with at least 3 years in a multi-site operational or clinical leadership role
- Demonstrated success in driving process improvement, clinical efficiency, and operational excellence
- Strong analytical skills with experience using EMR data, clinical KPIs, and business intelligence tools
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Proven ability to lead through influence and implement change across a geographically dispersed organization
Responsibilities
- Develop and lead system-wide initiatives to improve therapist efficiency, optimize schedules, and reduce non-clinical time
- Partner with regional and territory leadership to identify performance trends and implement data-driven interventions to address clinical inefficiencies
- Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as visits per day, units per visit, and arrival rate, documentation timeliness, and plan of care adherance
- Design and implement tools, workflows, and technology solutions to improve clinic-level operations and reduce administrative burden on clinical staff
- Support the development of education and training programs focused on documentation efficiency, time management, and clinical best practices
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including but not limited to clinical services, revenue cycle, sales, practice management, recruiting, clinical operations and clinical education teams to align initiatives and ensure consistent standards across the organization
- Develop performance dashboards and reporting mechanisms to drive accountability and continuous improvement
- Serve as a key contributor to strategic planning around staffing and incentive models, capacity planning, and clinic optimization
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with outpatient therapy EMR systems
- Experience leading initiatives across multi-site and multi-state clinic networks
- Certification or training in Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies
