Summary

Join Inspiren, a leader in senior living technology, as their Director of Embedded Systems. Lead and manage cross-functional teams responsible for the strategy, architecture, development, and delivery of embedded solutions. Oversee architecture design, implementation, testing, and optimization of embedded systems and real-time applications. Collaborate with various teams to deliver high-quality products. Ensure best practices in software development and recruit, mentor, and retain top-tier engineering talent. Drive continuous improvement in performance and scalability. This role requires a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and 10+ years of experience in embedded systems development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in embedded systems development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
  • Proficiency in Python and C/C++
  • Familiarity with embedded Linux, RTOS, microcontrollers (ARM, RISC-V, etc.) including associated build systems
  • Familiarity with wireless protocols (Bluetooth, Zigbee, Wi-Fi, LoRa, etc.)
  • Experience with system-level debugging, board bring-up, and hardware/software integration
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity practices in embedded devices
  • Strong understanding of firmware development for IoT, industrial, automotive, or consumer electronics
  • Proven experience in scaling teams and managing complex embedded projects from concept to production
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interface with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the embedded systems strategy and technical roadmap aligned with company goals
  • Lead and manage cross-functional teams of embedded firmware and software engineers
  • Oversee architecture design, implementation, testing, and optimization of embedded systems and real-time applications
  • Collaborate with hardware, AI, applications, product management, and QA teams to deliver high-quality, reliable products
  • Ensure best practices in software development, code review, and system integration
  • Recruit, mentor, and retain top-tier engineering talent
  • Manage schedules, priorities, and resources across multiple projects
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory standards (e.g., ISO, IEC, RTOS, safety-critical systems)
  • Drive continuous improvement in performance, scalability, power efficiency, and product stability

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Agile development methodologies
  • Background in safety-critical or medical device software development

Benefits

  • The annual salary for this role is $240,000 - $285,000 + equity + benefits (including medical, dental, and vision)
