You will support response and recovery efforts, guide clients through environmental reviews, and ensure compliance to maximize funding eligibility. The ideal candidate possesses a strong foundation in federal disaster grant programs and experience in environmental permitting and regulatory compliance. This position requires significant travel and may involve field deployments during disasters.

- 3β5+ years of experience in environmental permitting, environmental compliance, or environmental consulting with relevance to federal disaster programs
- Working knowledge of FEMA Public Assistance and Hazard Mitigation programs, particularly the EHP compliance component
- 3-5+ years customer service experience
- 3-5+ years project management experience
- Bachelorβs degree in environmental science, emergency management, planning, public administration, or a related field. Equivalent work experience may substitute on a year for year basis
- Familiarity with NEPA, Section 106, ESA, and other federal environmental laws
- 3-5+ years knowledge and/or exposure in one or more Emergency Management Disciplines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Eligibility to work in the United States without employer sponsored visa is required. We are not able to employ those located outside of the US
- Must pass company and any applicable client background check and reference check upon offer of employment
Responsibilities
- Provide support across emergency management projects with an emphasis on environmental compliance and federal grant regulations
- Guide clients through environmental and historic preservation review requirements under FEMA, HUD, and other federal programs
- Support permitting processes, including NEPA, Section 106, Endangered Species Act, Clean Water Act, and others
- Draft or review EHP documentation, including Biological Assessments, Environmental Assessments, and consultation packages
- Advise applicants on compliance with environmental laws and mitigation best practices during recovery operations
- Support the development and submission of FEMA Public Assistance and Hazard Mitigation applications and documentation
- Assist in identifying regulatory risks and providing compliance solutions during disaster recovery and infrastructure rebuilds
- Participate in disaster response and recovery field deployments, if needed, to support real-time environmental and permitting evaluations
- Collaborate with project teams and clients to deliver high-quality, timely, and compliant work products
- Assist with all corporate and program operations related to the Recovery Division and general emergency management consulting services as needed
- Assist all Divisions in direct client support and deliverables, as needed
- Assist on portions of projects and ensure all aspects are completed as outlined in the contract scope of work and timeline
- Attend meetings and conference calls with clients
- Assist in developing state and local response and pre- and post-disaster recovery plans, procedures, checklists, and guidance documents, as needed
- Maintain currency of and compliance with applicable state and federal policies, procedures, and guidance documents for applicable roles
- During a disaster, you may be called into the field to support relief efforts or assist with organizing responses to support advanced roles in emergency situations and/or activations
- Gain experience, train for, and become knowledgeable in all areas of Emergency Management
- Maintain/pursue ongoing knowledge, credentials, and development opportunities
- Perform other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience supporting FEMA or HUD-funded programs, such as CDBG-DR or CDBG-MIT
- Experience in disaster recovery operations, including site visits and coordination with local/state/federal stakeholders
- Applicable Certifications: Certified Emergency Manager (CEM)
- Business development experience
- Proficient with Salesforce
