Engineering Manager

Summary

Alation is seeking an Engineering Manager to join their Connector team in India. The ideal candidate will manage a team of 5+ engineers, develop the operational vision for OCF, and collaborate with product managers and technical leads. The role involves managing data pipelines that integrate, extract, and ingest metadata from various data sources.

Requirements

• A Bachelors/Masters in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
• Previously managed a team of 5+ engineers with responsibility for systems in production as a tech lead or a manager for at least 2+ years
• An expert technical understanding of the intersection of development, connectivity to data sources

Responsibilities

• Partner with product managers and technical leads to initiate cross-functional collaboration with development teams throughout Alation to gather feedback and requirements
• Seek diverse perspectives to drive bottom-up innovation and create buy-in from all technical stakeholders inside and outside the team
• Develop, manage, and set the operational vision for OCF
• Drive the short- and long-term direction for our OCF  teams. Think holistically to ensure the team fully understands its goals and objectives
• Work hands-on with engineering from diverse geographical locations
• Work on triaging Support escalations actively to unblock customers

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of building applications in Java, Python, golang, and any front-end technologies and operationalising services in K8s is desirable
