Engineering Manager

Requirements

• Possess a high degree of responsibility, organization, and discipline
• Exhibit exceptional attention to detail
• Demonstrate 2+ years of leadership experience, including managing and mentoring technical and product-oriented teams
• Display exceptional oral and written communication skills, and can convey complex security concepts to diverse audiences, including technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Possess excellent time and project management skills, with a proven ability to lead complex security initiatives and deliver results within set deadlines
• Be eager and comfortable with building and scaling teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Exhibit a strong ability to negotiate deliverables and trade-offs with minimal supervision
• Demonstrate proficiency in distributed systems, and can leverage this expertise to guide team decisions towards simplicity and long-term robustness
• Possess extensive experience and knowledge of remote work and can effectively maintain asynchronous discussions and checkpoints with teams and stakeholders
• Have familiarity with observability and monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, Datadog)
• Have experience working with Git and automated CI/CD tools
• Be available to work full-time
• Be proficient in English

Responsibilities

• Guide the team's advancement by refining the organizational structure, which includes establishing on-call schedules, career development pathways, and other essential operational procedures
• Elevate the overall security and quality of our systems by spearheading initiatives that implement best practices, align with established software engineering standards, and ensure effective communication with middle management and executive leadership
• Mentor team members to deliver features within appropriate context and a well-balanced approach to speed and scope definition
• Guide your team toward success by maintaining honesty and directness with team members, providing them with reliable leadership
• Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to align project scope and delivery plans
• Pitch your team's roadmap and deliverables to middle management and executives

Preferred Qualifications

• Have experience working with Java 8+
• Know your way around Kubernetes, GRPC, and REST
• Have led multiple teams before
• Have knowledge or experience in the finance industry
• Have knowledge or experience with data architecture systems, like data lakes, data ingestion, cleansing, and data governance
• Have led engineering communities, like guilds
