Summary

Caylent is seeking a talented Engineering Manager to join their Cloud Native Applications team. The role involves managing a team of 5-7 cloud software engineers and architects, interfacing with clients and internal teams, proposing technical improvements, kicking off new client engagements, developing and reviewing proposals, performing technical interviews, aiding in staffing process, providing technical guidance, representing direct reports during annual calibration sessions, conducting weekly 1:1s, and guiding career development. The ideal candidate has previous experience managing a team, working with AWS or other cloud-related solutions, great communication skills, experience managing professional services engagements, enthusiasm for startups, a technical background in application development, and preferably experience in a client-facing environment, consulting, or professional services.

Requirements

  • Previous experience managing a team (preferably in the areas of cloud, devops or application development)
  • Experience working with AWS or other cloud-related solutions
  • Experience writing, reviewing, and deploying using multiple different coding languages (nodejs, go, react, angular, typescript, python, etc)
  • Great verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience managing professional services engagements

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of 5 - 7 cloud software engineers and architects
  • Interface with clients and internal teams to propose technical improvements using your cloud and software engineering knowledge
  • Kickoff new client engagements and act as a point of technical escalation
  • Develop and review proposals and contracts and present these to clients
  • Perform technical interviews for Architect and Engineer candidates
  • Aid in the staffing process for client projects
  • Provide technical guidance to Architects and Engineers on engagements
  • Represent your direct reports during annual calibration sessions
  • Perform weekly 1:1s with your direct reports and guide their career development

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a client-facing environment
  • Experience working in consulting or professional services
  • Experience with testing and automation
  • Experience with UI/UX
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology or related field
