Engineering Manager

Summary

Join Discord's Engineering team as a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead the Financial Platform team. You will be responsible for crucial revenue accounting, tax, and payout integrations, supporting new products like a virtual currency. Lead a full-stack team to ensure scalable and accurate revenue operations. Collaborate with stakeholders across various departments. Make sound resourcing decisions and contribute to improving the Engineering organization. This US-based role requires 5+ years of software engineering experience and 2+ years managing a team of 5+ engineers. The salary range is $223,000 - $245,500 + equity + benefits.

Requirements

• You have 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer
• You have 2+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager and have successfully managed a team of 5+ Software Engineers
• You have strong communication skills and the ability to work well cross-functionally with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• You have a proven track record leading platform teams and you understand the tradeoffs necessary to enable client teams while simultaneously improving your own domain
• You are a first principles thinker who can work with others to come up with pragmatic solutions
• You are motivated to help your team members succeed and have experience growing engineers

Responsibilities

• Build and lead an exceptional team of engaged engineers by coaching, hiring, and fostering a culture of ownership and impact
• Drive the technical vision and roadmap for Financial Platform by collaborating with stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Accounting, Legal, and Tax
• Collaborate with the team to design solutions that support existing revenue lines at scale and enable rapid growth of new products
• Use your technical and domain expertise to ensure your team delivers extraordinary results at the high technical level we set
• Make sound, first-principle decisions around resourcing with clear rationale to partners and team members
• Work with other Engineering leaders to continuously improve the Engineering organization and uphold our workplace philosophy

You are passionate about coaching and leading other engineers, but secretly love to roll up your sleeves and getting elbow deep in code when the opportunities arise
