Engineering Manager

Requirements

• You have at least 3 years of experience managing a team of software developers
• You worked as a senior software engineer before being promoted to an engineering management role
• You are able to review Python/Django AND TypeScript code and provide code review feedback
• You have proven web development experience and a strong understanding of system design, allowing you to make important technical decisions
• Proficient in conducting thorough code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to coding standards
• You have a history of identifying skill gaps and promoting professional growth
• Deep understanding of modern web development technologies and frameworks and their best practices
• Passionate about driving continual improvement within your Engineering teams, breaking down roadblocks, and driving process improvements

Responsibilities

• Report directly to the Head of Engineering
• Conduct one-on-ones with direct reports to discuss and align on goals
• Foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation through coaching and mentoring team members
• Lead code reviews to maintain high code quality and foster a culture of collaboration and continuous learning
• Some hands-on coding may be required depending on the team size managed

Preferred Qualifications

• You are familiar with cloud technologies, like GCP or AWS
• You are comfortable programming in TypeScript or JavaScript and familiar with modern frameworks
