Requirements
- Software Engineering background - this role is technically hands-on
- Happy to dive into the detail - reviewing tech decisions with the team, bringing new ideas to the table and challenging the team
- Someone who enjoys talking tech, doing code reviews, jumping in to code when necessary and regularly providing technical feedback to the team
- Experience in managing and developing team of full-stack engineers
- A track record of delivery in high paced startup environments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable working in remote environments
- Passion about people, with the ability to inspire, coach and mentor to help people perform at their best
Responsibilities
- Lead a growing team of 6-8 engineers split across multiple pods
- Cultivate an environment of continuous learning and collaboration
- Optimise engineering processes and resourcing across the teams to optimise delivery
- Collaborate with engineering leadership in setting team strategy and priorities
- Review technical architecture proposals and ensuring considerations have been made on cost, scalability, performance, resilience, testability, observability and maintainability
- Improve knowledge sharing and collaboration, within and between teams, to remove roadblocks and keep teams performing well
- Take responsibility for planning, execution and success of complex projects
- Drive a culture of cross-team learning, encouraging the team to present to the wider organisation on key learnings
Preferred Qualifications
- Ideally knowledge across mobile, frontend and backend in a modern 'you build it, you own it' environment
- Experience managing distributed teams is highly desirable
- It would be great if you had knowledge of the payments or FinTech industry but it isn't essential
