Join Pismo's team responsible for network online authorizations for multiple card brands. As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a high-performance team focused on people development, technical quality, and operational excellence. You will hire, mentor, and grow engineers, ensuring team engagement and exceeding expectations. Responsibilities include developing product knowledge, delegating effectively, collaborating on technical challenges, and fostering a positive team culture. You will also conduct risk assessments, provide technical guidance, and ensure adherence to development best practices. The role involves managing the on-call team, making assertive decisions, working with international teams, and monitoring team services.
Requirements
- Upper Intermediate English Level (B2)
- 3+ years managing high-performing engineering teams
- Solid understanding of agile methodologies
- Hands-on experience with Java or Golang
- Proficient with relational databases
- Familiarity with observability tools like Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, or similar
- Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Experience with distributed systems and event-driven architecture
- Strong grasp of SRE/DevOps concepts
- Previous experience building large-scale, high-throughput systems
Responsibilities
- Hire, mentor, and grow engineers through regular 1:1s and continuous feedback, with a strong focus on high performance
- Keep the team engaged, motivated, and consistently challenged to exceed expectations
- Develop deep product knowledge and support your team in doing the same
- Delegate responsibilities effectively to ensure ownership and accountability
- Collaborate with the team to identify and resolve technical challenges
- Analyze user needs and design technical solutions accordingly
- Foster a healthy, inclusive team culture aligned with company values
- Conduct risk assessments and proactively drive improvements
- Provide technical guidance and support during complex challenges
- Ensure adherence to development best practices: code quality, PR reviews, test coverage, performance, resilience, and security
- Manage the on-call team, ensuring high-quality incident handling and excellent customer experience
- Make assertive decisions under pressure and within tight constraints
- Work directly with international teams and clients when needed
- Monitor team services and newly released features in production, always aiming to meet or exceed SLOs/SLAs
