Join Canva's Cloud Enablement Team as Engineering Manager to lead a high-impact group of 5 engineers (with opportunity to scale), focused on embedding cost efficiency and compliance into Canva’s infrastructure foundations. Guide the team’s strategic direction, enable developer-friendly governance, and build systems that scale securely and sustainably. Ensure Canva’s cloud footprint is continuously compliant and cost-optimised without slowing down innovation. Drive platform-wide efficiency programs and automate compliance by design. Develop high performers and grow the team’s capabilities. Advocate for governance as an enabler of innovation. This role offers flexibility in where and how you work, with offices in Sydney, Melbourne, and co-working spaces in other locations.

Requirements

• You’ve led platform or infrastructure teams through complex technical landscapes
• You understand cloud cost optimisation and compliance (especially in AWS & GCP)
• You’re a strong communicator who can align technical and business stakeholders
• You build high-trust team cultures and lead with empathy and clarity
• You’re strategic, adaptable, and thrive in solving ambiguous challenges
• You love making governance invisible, scalable, and developer-friendly

Responsibilities

• Lead a high-impact team focused on cloud cost optimisation and compliance at scale
• Guiding strategic direction across FinOps, compliance automation and cloud landing zones
• Partnering with security, finance, and platform teams to drive data-informed governance
• Supporting operational excellence while delivering business outcomes that scale
• Developing high performers and growing the team’s capabilities for Canva’s future needs
• Advocating for governance as an enabler - not a blocker - for innovation
