Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience in roles with a focus on selecting, implementing and operating enterprise SaaS applications, ideally in FinServices or FinTech
  • Ability and confidence to provide thought-leadership on contemporary application architecture, integration and operations
  • Demonstrated experience of leading a team of technical specialists
  • Demonstrated experience of vendor management
  • Demonstrated experience of operational management of one or more enterprise applications
  • Hands-on experience with at least two of the following enterprise applications: Salesforce CRM, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Salesforce Data Cloud, Segment, MixPanel, Google Analytics and Blackline, ideally including some formal certification to evidence this
  • A general understanding of contemporary cloud, application, data and security concepts, ideally in the context of architecture or solution design roles
  • A willingness and aptitude to learn about new enterprise applications, at least to the level where you can converse with technical specialists who have deeper SME knowledge than you
  • Critical thinking and commercial acumen, with the ability to frame application risks and opportunities in terms of commercial impact
  • Ability to communicate effectively to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Proactive and comfortable in working in situations with a degree of ambiguity
  • Confidence in having robust conversations with vendors, auditors and internal stakeholders
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration and influencing skills

Responsibilities

  • Manage licence, consumption costs, professional services and other factors influencing our Total Cost of Ownership for applications within your remit
  • Ensure that we develop a clear understanding of what data resides within our key enterprise applications, who owns it, where it comes from, where it goes, what it’s used for, its lifecycle and how trustworthy it is
  • Create and execute environment, security and lifecycle management strategies for key enterprise applications
  • Work with vendors and our Cloud function to establish operational resilience targets, risks, controls, procedures and playbooks for key enterprise applications as well as aligning to standards for observability and alerting
  • Participate in technology selection, onboarding and workload migration for new enterprise applications or for enabling new application features
  • Evaluate opportunities and make recommendations for appropriate use of automation and / or third-party management services to reduce toil and operational risk for key enterprise applications
  • Collaborate with other Enterprise Data functions to integrate Enterprise Applications into our wider data ecosystem, such as sourcing data from other applications, publishing events to a real-time service bus, publishing bulk data for warehousing and reporting, consuming data science models, etc
  • Articulating and governing architectural principles, patterns and playbooks for developers and users to extend our enterprise applications (for example, for which use cases might we prefer to leverage in-application reporting capabilities vs when might we want to integrate data into a data warehouse and leverage enterprise reporting capabilities?)
  • Creating, tracking and publishing SLAs, RTOs, RPOs and other health metrics for key enterprise applications and creating Service Desk processes for managing standard activities with associated SLOs
  • Forming, engaging and retaining a high-performing team
  • Measuring, reporting and continuously improving the delivery velocity and quality of your team’s output
  • Creating transparency of delivery effort and outcomes by aligning to best practices for  tracking work in Jira and ServiceDesk
