Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- 3-5 years of experience in nonprofit finance and accounting
- Proficiency in fund accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct), Excel, and database systems
- Strong technical competence and the ability to learn new software and systems
- Exceptional organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail
- Collaborative approach to teamwork with the ability to manage multiple projects under deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to working with diverse teams
- Strong support of and alignment with NAPAWF’s mission and vision
- Occasional travel required (up to 10%) and supporting other staff as needed
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage monthly close processes, ensuring the timely production of comprehensive financial reporting packages for NAPAWF
- Oversee monthly reconciliations for banking and investment accounts; prepare and analyze accounts receivable and accounts payable aging reports to ensure financial accuracy and stability
- Ensure the accurate recording of donations, earned revenues, and other income in alignment with organizational policies and procedures
- Administer and optimize expense reporting and bill payment systems, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and prompt resolution of user and system issues
- Collaborate with the Director of Finance and Administration to develop and oversee budgeting and forecasting activities
- Manage the preparation of budgets for new programs, proposals, and grant reporting, ensuring alignment with organizational goals
- Ensure compliance with securities laws and GAAP principles by overseeing the timely and accurate filing of financial and accounting reports
- Lead preparations for annual audits and 990 reporting by coordinating necessary documentation and providing detailed explanations
- Stay informed on evolving accounting standards and regulations to proactively address impacts on the organization’s practices
- Represent NAPAWF in finance and accounting training sessions, ensuring alignment with regulatory and organizational standards
- Develop, implement, and maintain the fiscal manual to ensure clear, comprehensive, and accurate policies and procedures
- Train and mentor staff on organizational policies, procedures, and systems, fostering their ability to navigate and troubleshoot effectively
- Manage relationships with IT consultants and other vendors to ensure the delivery of high-quality operational and technological support
- Supervise and manage entry-level staff, providing clear direction and ensuring team alignment with organizational goals
- Lead projects from conception to completion, ensuring timelines are met and deliverables are achieved, while fostering team development and collaboration
- Manager, mentor, and support team members by providing ongoing feedback, coaching, and professional development opportunities to enhance their skills and performance
