Finance Coordinator

Summary

Join Metalab, a distributed team designing and building globally beloved products, as a Finance Coordinator for a parental leave coverage position! This remote role, open to Canadian residents, requires handling accounts payable, assisting with accounts receivable, and other finance duties. You will be responsible for processing transactions, preparing reconciliations, maintaining forecasts, and resolving discrepancies. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently. This is a temporary position starting February 2025 and ending April 2026. Compensation is within the BC Pay Band of 50,000 CAD - 60,000 CAD.

Requirements

• Experience with bookkeeping software, NetSuite in particular, is an asset
• Excellent documentation skills and the ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and with confidence, both verbally and in writing
• Attention to detail and the ability to strike a balance between accuracy, efficiency, and quality
• Proficient skills in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Docs, with a focus towards Excel/gSheets
• Comfortable working as a member of a remote team, and working independently with minimal supervision
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Eagerness to learn, flexibility, and a willingness to take on a variety of responsibilities

Responsibilities

• Process a variety of accounts payable transactions
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
• Maintain cash flow forecast
• Resolve invoice and bill discrepancies and variances
• Maintain general ledger; verify supporting documentation and prepare journal entries
• Track accrual and prepayment entries to ensure accounts are accurately monitored and recorded
• Prepare various remittances (GST, Employer Health Tax, WorkSafeBC)
• Provide input and recommend improvements for processes and procedures
• Assist with the month-end close procedures and month-end reporting packages
• Assist with year-end audit and tax preparation including preparing supporting documentation for our external accountants
• Assist with financial analysis on special projects, both short and long-term
