Finance Intern

Summary

Join Airbnb's 2025 Summer Intern Program as an Accounting and Finance Transformation intern from May 19, 2025, to August 8, 2025. You'll work with both the Accounting and Finance Transformation teams, contributing to impactful projects. Responsibilities include assisting with month-end close processes, optimizing accounting procedures, building reports, and analyzing data. The ideal candidate is a first-year Masters in Accounting or Finance student graduating between December 2025 and Spring 2026, proficient in Excel and Google Sheets, and possessing strong analytical and communication skills. The internship is US-remote eligible, with occasional office work possible. This role offers potential benefits and employee travel credits.

Requirements

• Be a full-time student graduating between December 2025 - Spring 2026
• Be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets, including advanced knowledge of formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis tools
• Possess excellent communication and analytical skills, with the ability to clearly articulate thoughts, insights, and problem-solving approaches
• Have strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and precision in work
• Have strong organizational skills and excellent time management, with the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
• Have a passion for the Airbnb mission and product; experience with the platform is a plus!
• Have work authorization for employment in the United States (CPT/OPT is accepted)

Responsibilities

• Work with the Accounting team on ad hoc projects as part of our accounting roadmap to maintain a 3 day OPEX close
• Update our Smartsheets dashboard/webpage for the general ledger team
• Reconcile and book our travel transactions
• Help with month-end accruals
• ARCS reconciliation automations
• SOX controls
• Month-close metrics
• Journal entry completeness
• Assist in optimizing and standardizing current processes by building reports
• Analyze data
• Leverage automation tools to improve efficiency and drive performance
• Focus on understanding the cross functional collaboration between the finance and system teams
• Work alongside the team to learn about process optimization and new tools
• Build metrics around finance optimization initiatives and month end close metrics
• Project manage finance transformation initiatives
• Assist with communication to the finance organization
• Work cross functionally with the Alteryx program
• Attend project meetings
• Collaborate with multiple team members to achieve project milestones
• Communicate with stakeholders across different teams to provide project updates
• Seek and provide feedback throughout the internship
• Actively participate in and contribute to the Finance team and broader Airbnb community

Preferred Qualifications

• Have previous experience internship or full-time experience in accounting
• Have experience with productivity and project management tools such as SmartSheets and Asana, as well as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems like Oracle and NetSuite
