Join the Armed Services YMCA as a Financial Analyst and support the Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer in executing all accounting functions. You will be responsible for financial analysis, reporting, reconciliation, general accounting, and transaction review. This role also involves implementing systems, controls, and processes to support the company's continued growth. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including nonprofit accounting. Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum 10 years of experience in finance and/or accounting to include experience with nonprofit accounting, periodic financial reporting; financial analysis and forecasting; annual financial audits; reviews and development of internal controls; and budget development
- Proficiency with financial software and databases; knowledge of Intacct preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, intermediate Excel experience required
- Highly self-motivated with the proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with varying deadlines
- Detail oriented with excellent follow up skills
- Able to maintain confidentiality of information
Responsibilities
- Support the Finance Staff in all activities of the Finance Team, including the month-end close process, accounting operations, financial reporting, financial reconciliation, and cash management for headquarters and the branches
- Support the production of timely and complete consolidating financial statements; the production of the annual budget; and the production of financial forecasts
- Conduct financial analysis of variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
- Assist in the continuous review and improvement of the accounting policies and procedures and internal controls to ensure conformance with GAAP and internal accounting and reporting guidelines
- Support complete and accurate tax compliance and tax accounting in accordance with federal/state laws and regulations, GAAP, and industry best practices
- Support compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements
- Maintain systems and controls which verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data
- Support the streamlining of accounting systems and documenting processes via process improvement and automation to achieve greater efficiencies and accuracy in the level and timeliness of reporting
- Support operational and design effectiveness of internal controls to include documentation of processes and training of employees to ensure conformance with accounting policy and procedures and industry best practices
- Support annual financial audit and IRS Form 990 filing
- Support submission of Annual Reports and Charitable Registrations as required by various states where the organization is registered
- Support quarterly surveys as required by the Census Bureau
- Perform tasks or projects as assigned or as directed
Preferred Qualifications
Long-term nonprofit experience preferred
