Fire Protection Engineer

Summary

Join a fast-growing, employee-centric engineering firm as a Lead Fire Protection Engineer and work remotely, traveling to clients nationwide. This role centers on developing fire protection solutions, utilizing computer fire modeling, and ensuring compliance with codes and regulations. You will evaluate client needs, size and select equipment, perform hazard analyses, and create technical reports. Mentorship of junior team members and collaboration with other teams are key aspects. Significant bonus potential exists based on company and individual performance. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering and relevant experience, with a PE license preferred. Travel is estimated at 20-30%, primarily overnight.

Requirements

Bachelor's in engineering (preferably fire protection or mechanical) with 4+ years of relevant fire protection engineering experience

Responsibilities

• Develop fire protection engineering solutions and initiatives that support various clients and industries
• Evaluate client’s needs
• Develop solutions using computer fire modeling
• Research and ensure proper code and regulations
• Review equipment sizing and selection
• Perform hazard analyses
• Complete technical reporting
• Oversee the work of junior team members
• Collaborate with other department teams and senior personnel

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineering (PE) License or potential to obtain one in near future
• Knowledge of Revit/AutoCAD design and BIM 360 software
• Experience with engineering consulting, hazard analysis, risk assessments, equipment sizing/P&IDs, and knowledge of NFPA
