Summary

Join the Epilepsy Foundation as their Foundation and Grants Manager! In this role, you will be responsible for identifying and securing grants from private and family foundations. You will write compelling grant proposals, manage grant spending and reporting, and build relationships with grant-making institutions. This position requires strong research, writing, and communication skills, as well as experience in grant writing and fundraising. You will collaborate with colleagues across the Foundation to leverage expertise and achieve revenue goals. The ideal candidate possesses a thorough understanding of the grant-writing process and grant life-cycle maintenance processes. This is a full-time position with some flexibility and potential for telework.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2-3 years of experience in grant writing, preferably in a human health or patient advocacy capacity
  • A minimum of 2 years of practical experience in identifying and qualifying grant-seeking opportunities
  • Proficiency with MS Office and comfort with learning new technical systems as needed
  • Experience with grant prospecting and tracking software
  • Demonstrated knowledge of grant-seeking as a source of revenue and a means to strengthen the organization’s perceived role and value in the nonprofit space
  • Understanding of basic fundraising protocols, best practices, and rules
  • A high level of detail orientation and accuracy (checking your work for accuracy is especially important)
  • Ability to prioritize work assignments, track multiple projects simultaneously, and follow through to completion
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision on assigned duties; a sense of ownership and urgency in completing assigned job duties is essential
  • Excellent time management and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Uses sound judgment and maintains strict confidentiality

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research to identify suitable grant opportunities
  • Lead the planning and implementation of grant proposal writing for family and private foundations
  • After securing grants, track and complete all deliverables within prescribed deadlines
  • Update and maintain records in Salesforce CRM
  • Respond to inquiries, research, and/or direct questions to the appropriate contact, and provide exceptional customer service to colleagues and fundraising participants as the primary grant-writing subject matter expert
  • Create and facilitate successful grant proposals by leveraging expertise from across the Foundation
  • Manage and continuously improve grant tracking processes
  • Identify software tools and vendor products to sustain and enhance grant research and prospecting processes
  • Take full responsibility for the finished product to ensure that it is accurate, thorough, and completed in a timely manner
  • Provide guidance on policies and procedures for identifying, researching, and submitting grants
  • Establish, cultivate, and secure strong relationships and partnerships with grant-making institutions and decision-makers
  • Assist with the management of technology vendors and all contracts/training related to them
  • Administer new hire onboarding and orientation for any and all vendor platforms
  • Assist with other duties and special projects, as assigned
  • Manage basic accounting and finance tasks related to budgets and planning; communicate with finance staff

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional fundraising and peer-to-peer training or experience is a plus
  • Knowledge or experience with special events and other fundraising areas (major gifts, corporate fundraising) is a plus
