Founding Engineer (Backend)

Summary

The job is for a Founding Engineer (Backend) at Cumberland Labs, a venture studio building a best-in-class Perp DEX on Monad. The role involves architecting systems connecting web and mobile clients to the blockchain, with a focus on performance and reliability.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience, with at least 3 in a lead role
• Significant experience architecting secure production backend systems at scale on cloud infrastructure, involving Data Pipeline Tools, Relational, In-Memory, and Time-series Databases, Notification Systems, and Virtualization
• Experience shipping product and writing production grade code
• Experience with Rust, Go, or other high performance languages suitable for demanding services realization
• Experience with Websocket architecture and implementation

Responsibilities

• Design a complete system to connect desktop and mobile client systems to our decentralized perpetuals exchange
• Ensure performance and reliability of the design while overseeing implementation, deployment, and maintenance by other engineers
• Own the end to end performance of the system across the stack and work with other teams at the boundaries of the stack to ensure successful interfacing

Preferred Qualifications

• Past experience working in high-paced startup environments
• Knowledge of EVM, DEXs, Perpetuals, and other novel DeFi primitives
• Proficiency in Rust
