Summary
Join SOULCHI, a values-driven startup, as our Fractional CFO with Fundraising Experience. This role blends strategic financial oversight with hands-on fundraising, working closely with the executive team to optimize cash flow and secure funding. You will develop and execute financial strategies, lead fundraising efforts, prepare budgets and forecasts, and ensure transparent financial reporting. The ideal candidate possesses extensive CFO experience, proven fundraising success, strong financial modeling skills, and a robust investor network. This is an equity-based position with flexible hours (15-40 hours/week) and the potential for salary and benefits after the break-even point.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a CFO or in a senior financial leadership role, ideally within a startup environment. Experience with fundraising and investment rounds (pre-seed, seed, Series A) is essential
- Strong financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis skills. Deep understanding of startup financials and the fundraising landscape
- Established network of angel investors, venture capitalists, and other potential funding sources
- Demonstrated success in leading and supporting fundraising efforts, including developing pitch materials, investor relations, and managing the due diligence process
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly present financial information and strategic insights to investors, the executive team, and other stakeholders
- Solid understanding of financial regulations, compliance requirements, and financial risk management in a startup context
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with the companyβs mission and growth goals. Ensure fiscal responsibility and long-term sustainability
- Lead fundraising efforts by developing investment plans, financial models, and pitch materials. Play a key role in securing funding from angel investors and venture capitalists, and guide the company through the due diligence process
- Prepare financial forecasts and budgets, with insights into projected staffing costs and other key metrics, to support strategic decision-making and fundraising
- Establish robust reporting mechanisms to provide transparency into the financial health of the company. Develop and maintain accurate financial statements to guide executive decision-making
- Optimize cash flow to ensure operational efficiency and smooth scaling. Identify financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them
- Take ownership of financial KPIs, providing regular updates and analysis to track progress and inform business strategies
- Maintain relationships with current and potential investors, ensuring clear communication and providing regular updates on company performance
- Work alongside the CEO and other executives to align financial strategies with business goals. Assist in shaping the overall direction of the company
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the tech or software sector is preferred
- A degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (MBA or equivalent is a plus)
- CPA, CFA, or similar certifications are a plus but not required
