Future Perfect Fellow

Summary

Join Vox Media's Future Perfect team as a Fellow for a one-year, full-time, remote position. This fellowship is designed for emerging journalism talent, subject-matter experts transitioning to journalism, or established writers seeking to enhance their skills. You will produce content, participate in story meetings and pitch ideas, collaborate with editors, and engage in mentorship opportunities. The ideal candidate possesses a passion for Future Perfect's coverage areas, including AI, global health, and animal welfare, and demonstrates strong writing and storytelling abilities. The fellowship offers intensive feedback, mentorship, networking, and skills training. The position is benefits-eligible and part of the Vox Media Union.

Requirements

• A demonstrated passion for and familiarity with Future Perfect’s areas of coverage, including artificial intelligence; global poverty and global health; pandemics and other catastrophic threats to humanity; animal welfare and factory farming; moral philosophy; effective altruism more broadly; and philanthropy
• An interest in explanatory journalism of the kind long-practiced by Vox
• Previous newsroom experience (including college papers) or comparable experience in another field
• Tenacious curiosity and a creative approach to storytelling, including an interest in telling stories about the world through the Future Perfect lens

Responsibilities

• Produce distinct Future Perfect content
• Participate in story meetings and pitch fresh ideas
• Work with editors to shape and improve content
• Participate in skill shares, training, and mentorship opportunities

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated expertise or previous work in one or more of the above subjects, especially artificial intelligence and global health policy
