GIS System Engineer

Summary

Join our team as a GIS System Engineer and contribute to the development of automated mapping workflows for national mapping agencies. As part of the Cartographic Web Services (CWS) Team, you will work closely with senior team members to design and enhance cartographic automation workflows, ensuring compliance with specifications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Geography, or relevant coursework in geographic information science with 8 or more years of applicable experience, or equivalent experience
• Advanced knowledge of GIS software and technology (GeoMedia, DCS, ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, etc.)
• Adept in a variety of GIS concepts, practices, and procedures
• Experience with FME (Feature Manipulation Engine)
• Experience with relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL/PostGIS)
• Experience with web services (e.g. WFS, WMS, WCS)
• Proficient with the Windows Operating System (Desktop and Server)
• US citizenship with an ability to obtain a Top Secret Security Clearance

Responsibilities

• Participate in design and implementation of cartographic automation workflows
• Independently perform cartographic tasks associated with one or more GIS concepts; imagery analysis, geospatial map production and the evaluation and use of GIS data
• Recommend appropriate GIS strategy in response to GIS analysis results
• Deliver new features, enhancements, and bug fixes
• Responsible for end-to-end delivery of workflow support files
• Install, configure, test, and maintain application software and system management tools
• Monitor and test application performance for bottlenecks, identify solutions and work with developers to implement fixes
• Provide end user support
