Summary

Join Braven as a part-time Grader and play a central role in supporting college students (Fellows) in the Braven Accelerator program. Grade assignments using rubrics, provide feedback, and support students facing academic or personal challenges. Communicate with the Braven team and students about progress and deadlines. Attend weekly virtual classes, hold office hours, and provide additional support as needed. Deeply understand Braven's instructional content and complete required trainings. This remote position requires proficiency in Google Suite and comfort learning new tools. The role is temporary, lasting from August 2025 to December 2025, with the possibility of extension. The position is remote, but the candidate must reside in NY or NJ.

Requirements

  • You will need a laptop or desktop computer to participate in training sessions and attend Learning Labs as well as grade all assignments
  • Authorized to work in the U.S
  • Work remotely from one of our current Braven operating states: NY, NJ

Responsibilities

  • Grade assignments for an assigned group of students using rubrics and provide meaningful feedback
  • Support students who are flagged because of their grade, engagement, and/or other personal issues
  • Communicate to the Braven team, group facilitators (known in Braven as Leadership Coaches, or LCs), and students about students’ mastery, engagement, and upcoming deadlines
  • Attend one virtual class (known in Braven as ‘Learning Labs’) night per week (Tuesdays 6:00 PM-8:00 PM ET, Wednesdays from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM ET or Friday 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM ET) to build relationships with students, provide support and answer questions about upcoming assignments, observe cohorts, and potentially substitute for absent group facilitators/LCs
  • Hold one hour of virtual office hours per week (Support students who come with questions and proactively reach out to students who need more support)
  • Support students outside of office hours as needed
  • Deeply internalize Braven's instructional content such as modules, slide decks, assignments, and rubrics
  • Attend all live trainings and complete additional asynchronous trainings. Grader will complete one, 30 minute, asynchronous training per week during weeks 3 through 12 of the course. The goal of this training is to ensure all Grader are scoring with the same norms and to get questions answered about how to grade each assignment
  • Serve as an ambassador for the Braven team on campus by serving on panels, sharing your experience with other campus stakeholders, etc., as time permits

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience using Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets), Zoom, and LinkedIn is highly preferred
  • Comfortability learning to navigate new tools such as Canvas, Speedgrader, and, if applicable, different systems used by our higher education partners
  • Prior experience teaching or serving as a Teaching Assistant or similar role
  • Prior experience coaching students or adults
  • Professional work experience
  • Proficiency in a second language is a plus
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion
  • Exemplification of Braven’s core values
  • Experience that has informed your belief in Braven’s mission and have prepared you to work with, or for, Braven’s student Fellow population
