Graphic Design Fellow

Summary

Join Business Insider as a Graphic Design fellow to create conceptual illustrations, photo composites and graphics for features, investigations, lists, and news stories. This paid role requires you to work for 40 hours a week. Fellows are assigned to teams and become experts in digital storytelling.

Requirements

• A passion for visual storytelling and journalism
• The ability to brainstorm, iterate, and execute ideas quickly
• Openness when receiving and giving feedback and critiques
• Thoughtfulness when working on sensitive and difficult stories
• Desire to include representation and diversity in your illustrations
• The ability to work under a deadline and juggle multiple projects at a time
• Eagerness to work in a collaborative and fast-paced creative environment
• Excellent communication skills with teammates and Senior Editors
• Willingness to expand and practice skills outside their expertise or comfort zone
• Confidence to pitch and defend your work comfortably
• Interest in building a diverse and expansive network of illustrators to work with

Responsibilities

• Experience creating conceptual graphics
• Experience creating photo collages and composites
• Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
• Excellent use of color and attention to detail
• A great eye for strong illustration and knowledge of different styles
• Experience art directing or working with illustrators a plus
• Experience with typography and branding a plus
• Mac proficiency
