Summary
Join CookUnity as a User Activation Product Designer and play a crucial role in shaping the future of our meal delivery platform. You will design, test, and optimize the user experience to drive active engagement and retention within the first 8 weeks of a user's journey. Focus will be on the initial user interaction, guiding users from their first visit through onboarding. You will collaborate with product, marketing, and engineering teams to create seamless user-centered activation flows. This is a high-impact role where your contributions will be key to ensuring user empowerment and investment in CookUnity. You'll design experiences that help users quickly understand value, minimize confusion, and build the habit of returning. Your work will directly influence how new users experience the platform, minimizing friction and guiding their behavior towards key actions.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in UX/UI design, with a strong focus on user onboarding, activation, and early engagement strategies
- Proven track record of designing successful user activation flows, ideally for subscription or e-commerce models, with an emphasis on retention
- Strong portfolio demonstrating experience in user activation, onboarding designs, and data-informed design iterations
- Experience in using design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, InVision)
- Expertise in A/B testing, user testing, and analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Hotjar) to optimize designs and track performance
- Deep understanding of user experience principles, particularly in guiding users through early stages of the journey
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including product, engineering, marketing, and analytics, to create successful designs
- Ability to balance data insights and empathy in crafting intuitive user flows
- Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly present design decisions and outcomes to stakeholders
Responsibilities
- Design User Activation Flows: Focus on creating compelling and frictionless onboarding and activation experiences (e.g., welcome screens, initial sign-in, personalization of preferences) aimed at quickly engaging users in the first 8 weeks
- User Journey Optimization: Develop and refine user journeys to drive users towards key activation goals, such as completing their first order, setting up their meal preferences, or establishing repeat behaviors
- Reduce Friction: Continuously analyze user flow and identify points of friction in early engagement, iterating designs that smoothen the experience and guide users toward high-value actions
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with product, marketing, engineering, and analytics teams to create a seamless and efficient experience that aligns with overall business objectives while prioritizing user engagement
- Data-Driven Design Decisions: Use a mix of qualitative and quantitative data to iterate on the activation flows, driving improvements in user retention, first-time usage, and reducing churn
- Behavior-Driven Design: Leverage insights from user research, analytics, and user behavior to understand early-stage challenges and identify opportunities for improvement in the user onboarding experience
- Rapid Testing & Iteration: Prototype, test, and refine user activation experiences at speed, gathering feedback and analyzing performance metrics to iteratively improve the process
- Stay Current: Keep up with the latest design trends, activation techniques, and performance marketing insights to ensure our activation flows stay optimized, competitive, and effective
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with front-end development practices (HTML/CSS) is a plus, but not required
