Summary
Join TextNow, the nation's largest free phone service provider, as a Senior Software Engineering Leader! Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will lead the Core Experience Engineering team, delivering exceptional customer experiences across iOS, Android, and Web platforms. You will collaborate closely with the product team, translate product requirements into technical designs, and ensure on-time, high-quality delivery. This role demands strong technical skills across multiple platforms and a proven ability to lead and mentor engineering teams. You will be responsible for creating and managing engineering roadmaps, monitoring KPIs, and identifying areas for improvement. This is a highly impactful role for a seasoned engineering leader.
Requirements
- BS/BA in a technical field such as Computer Science or equivalent experience
- 5+ years managing teams of software engineers
- 10+ years of experience working in software engineering, in the mobile space (Android & iOS)
- Deep understanding of iOS, Android, and backends that drive mobile apps
- Well-versed in the intricacies of mobile design, development, and deployment
- Strong product mindset
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lead and execute large, complex technical initiatives
- Expertise in Agile methodology and managing distributed development projects
- Proficiency in establishing KPIs and driving best practices in software development
- A self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal oversight
- An Inspirational technology leader with strong coaching abilities and a focus on fostering innovation
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of Engineering Managers, analysts as well as front-end and back-end software developers to deliver TextNowβs Core Messaging & Voice Experience to our customers
- Create and manage cross-platform (iOS, Android, Backend) engineering roadmaps for our core customer facing experiences
- Closely collaborate with Product Mangers (PMs) to create, drive and deliver innovative, compelling experiences to our customers
- Translate product requirements into technical designs and delivery plans
- Ensure on-time, quality delivery of new features and capabilities
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and regularly assess the app's performance to identify areas for improvement, and optimization
- Identify opportunities for improvement and implement best practices that enhance efficiency and effectiveness in software development
- Build and grow a team of exceptional software engineers, managers and technical leaders and be a strong technical mentor
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Voice over IP (VoIP) and or messaging (SMS, text, RCS) technologies
