We seek an experienced and visionary Head of Engineering (CTO) to lead our technology strategy and drive innovation. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven track record in managing large, distributed teams. This role offers the opportunity to shape the technological future of a leading B2B fintech company. The position is open to US remote work with a preference for Raleigh, North Carolina. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive technology strategy, leading a large engineering team, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- 15+ years of experience in B2B technology roles, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership position
- Strong technical background as a former engineer/developer
- Proven experience managing large, distributed teams of 150+ members
- In-depth knowledge of agile methodologies and best practices
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to travel 40-50% annually for in-person collaboration, customer meetings, etc
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive technology strategy aligned with business goals
- Stay abreast of emerging fintech trends and technologies to maintain competitive advantage
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation in technology processes and solutions
- Lead and manage a distributed technology team of 150+ members
- Foster a culture of high performance, innovation, and continuous learning
- Implement and oversee agile methodologies to ensure efficient project delivery
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the engineering team
- Oversee the development, deployment, and maintenance of fintech systems and infrastructure
- Ensure the security, scalability, and reliability of the company's technology platforms
- Collaborate with Product Management and other cross-functional teams to drive the development of innovative fintech solutions
- Work closely with the Head of Product Management across the entire product lifecycle, from concept to launch
- Collaborate with executive leadership to align technology initiatives with overall business objectives
- Manage the technology budget and resources effectively
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree
- Strong understanding of fintech technologies, including payment systems, security protocols, and regulatory compliance
- Experience managing cloud native platforms with a preference for prior experience with AWS
