Head of Legal and Compliance

Summary

Stedi is hiring a Head of Legal and Compliance to ensure compliance with laws and regulations, manage legal and regulatory elements of product development, support sales and procurement teams, draft agreements, maintain internal processes, monitor corporate compliance, and act as a point of contact for legal inquiries.

Requirements

• A JD degree and membership in at least one U.S. state bar
• 6+ years of relevant experience in a firm and fast-paced in-house roles
• A proven deal lawyer with significant drafting experience
• Experience advising on healthcare and corporate compliance
• Familiarity with counseling teams that are building technical software products
• Ability to independently manage many concurrent open threads without dropping balls; exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communicator and strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to partner effectively with all levels of the organization and external parties

Responsibilities

• Be responsible for helping Stedi deliver products that are compliant with laws and contractual commitments to customers and partners, particularly around HIPAA and other relevant regulations
• Manage the legal and regulatory elements of the design, build, and execution of our products, including advising on new and emerging legal and regulatory developments impacting products and interpreting how existing laws apply to new technologies
• Support the sales and procurement teams by managing contract reviews, leading negotiations, and advising on a wide range of commercial and legal issues
• Draft and maintain Stedi’s agreements and playbooks. Lead and contribute to projects to improve internal processes and operational efficiencies
• Monitor corporate compliance with state and federal laws where the company operates. Prepare and file annual reports, licenses, and other regulatory documents
