The ideal candidate possesses a Juris Doctor degree, significant legal experience in financial services or technology (preferably in cryptocurrency or fintech), and a strong understanding of blockchain technology and cryptocurrency regulations. Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
• Admission to practice law in Colombia
• More than 10 years of legal experience, focusing on financial services, corporate law, or technology, preferably in the cryptocurrency or fintech sectors
• Strong understanding of blockchain technology and cryptocurrency regulations
• Excellent negotiation, drafting, and communication skills
• Ability to think strategically and provide timely, actionable legal advice in a fast-paced environment
• Proven experience managing legal teams and fostering collaboration across departments

Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret developments in cryptocurrency regulations and legal frameworks globally, ensuring the organization complies with all relevant laws
• Advise on regulatory issues related to anti-money laundering (AML), know your customer (KYC), securities law, and data protection
• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of contracts, including partnership agreements, service agreements, and terms of service for customers
• Ensure contractual documents meet legal standards and protect the organization’s interests
• Identify potential legal risks associated with business strategies and operational activities, and develop risk mitigation strategies
• Provide guidance on emerging risks related to new technologies, market regulations, and industry practices
• Manage any disputes or litigation involving the organization, coordinating with external legal counsel when necessary
• Develop and implement strategies for dispute resolution and mitigation
• Support the Board of Directors and executive leadership with legal advice on corporate governance, structuring, and compliance issues
• Assist in the preparation of board materials and regulatory filings
• Establish internal policies and compliance programs related to legal risk management, financial operations, and user protection
• Educate employees on legal policies and compliance through training and workshops
• Work closely with internal teams (e.g., product development, compliance, finance, and marketing) to ensure legal considerations are integrated into business decisions
• Serve as the primary point of contact for all legal inquiries and issues within the organization
