Summary

Join Ondo Finance as their first Head of People and build out the People function from the ground up. You will partner with the recruiting team to manage the entire employee lifecycle, focusing on hiring and retaining top talent. Key responsibilities include overseeing recruiting, developing compensation and benefits programs (including fiat and token-based compensation), implementing performance management systems, and leading org design and people planning. You will also manage HR systems and data, ensuring accurate reporting and insights. This is a remote-first role with a competitive compensation package and benefits.

Requirements

  • 8–12+ years of experience in People/HR, including leadership roles in high-growth, tech-forward, or finance-adjacent companies
  • Experience managing compensation strategies involving equity or tokens, ideally with exposure to volatility and refresh grant decision-making
  • Strong fluency with numbers, models, and data systems; background in finance, economics, analytics, or consulting is a plus
  • Experience leading or implementing international employment and benefits programs
  • Strong project management skills and systems thinking
  • Excellent written communication; clear, precise, and thoughtful
  • Proven ability to build trust across functions and seniority levels
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, able to design processes from scratch and iterate quickly

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the recruiting function to ensure that it is high-functioning, with top-of-funnel pipeline, structured interview processes, and strong close rates across all teams
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive, scalable compensation philosophy and framework supporting both fiat and token-based compensation with internal equity and market competitiveness across jurisdictions
  • Ensure benefits programs (including international employment setups, 401(k), and healthcare) are best-in-class for our size and stage, enabling us to attract and retain talent globally
  • Operationalize performance management systems and career development frameworks, including job architectures, levels, and promotion criteria across functions
  • Integrate and automate key people systems to support accurate, real-time data for planning, reporting, and decision-making
  • Upskill managers in feedback, hiring, and team development; ensure our culture supports high performance, accountability, and continuous growth
  • Oversee the full-cycle recruiting function, from sourcing to closing
  • Ensure consistent use of structured interviews, scorecards, and candidate experience best practices
  • Partner with execs and hiring managers to forecast headcount and hiring priorities
  • Develop and maintain our compensation philosophy, incorporating both fiat and token elements
  • Own market benchmarking processes, leveling, and geographic adjustments
  • Design and implement benefit programs (e.g., 401(k), healthcare, equity/token liquidity strategies)
  • Implement performance review cycles, feedback mechanisms, and promotion processes
  • Build career ladders, job architecture specs, and clear criteria for progression
  • Drive manager enablement and employee development programs
  • Partner with leadership on org design and workforce planning
  • Build scalable processes and systems for decision-making, approvals, and change management
  • Lead international employment strategies, including contractor-to-employee transitions and EOR setup
  • Own our HR systems stack: ATS, HRIS, comp benchmarking tools, performance tools, etc
  • Integrate data across systems to support planning, reporting, and insights
  • Establish and report on key people analytics metrics (e.g., offer acceptance rate, attrition, compensation coverage, engagement trends)
