Summary
Join the UN Foundation's Global Communications and Engagement team as a Social Media Intern! This paid internship (May 27th-August 29th, 2025) offers an hourly rate of $17.50-$20. You will collaborate on content planning, creation, and management for various social media platforms. Responsibilities include drafting engaging copy, conducting research, monitoring social media channels, analyzing data, and potentially assisting with video or design. The ideal candidate possesses exceptional writing skills, familiarity with social media management tools, and a passion for the UN's mission. This is a remote position requiring a personal laptop and internet access.
Requirements
- Enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited college or university in communications, marketing, public affairs, journalism, or related field
- Exceptional writing skills, especially for digital channels
- Familiarity or experience working with social media management tools such as Hootsuite
- Familiarity, interest in, or experience working with photo, design, and video software/tools
- Creative, savvy, and up-to-speed with digital communications trends and good practice
- Desire to learn and put theory into practice on the job
- Excellent attention to detail
- Initiative to find and propose new projects, both for the individual and for the team
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as needed
- Ability to meet regular attendance/tardiness policy
- Must have a personal laptop computer and access to the Internet
- Must be available to work a maximum of 29 hours per week
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with Global Communications and Engagement colleagues to support the planning, creation, management, publishing, and data analysis of digital content
- Draft copy for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Threads, X (formerly Twitter), WhatsApp, and toolkits
- Research topics, audiences, creative assets, and channels to inform content planning
- Monitor social media channels for issues, trends, and opportunities for real-time engagement and conversation, and share listening observations
- Support the collection and analysis of data and draft reports
- Support on video or design, based on prior experience and/or interest
- Other duties as assigned

Previous communications internship experience
