Internal Communications Generalist

Summary

Join the Wikimedia Foundation as an Internal Communications Generalist for a 10-month contract! Collaborate with various teams to create engaging content (written, visual, digital) that fosters employee engagement and supports organizational goals. You will develop communication plans, coordinate internal events, and ensure consistent messaging across internal channels. The ideal candidate is a passionate storyteller with strong writing and editing skills and experience in creating content across multiple formats. This part-time role (20 hours/week) requires 3+ years of experience in a related field. Note that this contractor position does not include employee benefits.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in content writing, corporate communications, or a related field
• Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with a talent for creating engaging content
• Experience in developing content across multiple formats, including video and graphics
• Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and maintain high-quality standards
• Strong organizational skills, including managing content calendars
• Knowledge of best practices in internal communications to drive employee engagement

Responsibilities

• Create diverse content formats, such as articles, videos, blogs, updates, and internal newsletters, to engage staff and reinforce our culture
• Collaborate with the Internal Communications Lead to create communication plans that support messaging and key Foundation initiatives
• Support the coordination of internal events and engagement opportunities for staff
• Edit and proofread content to maintain clarity, consistency, and alignment with various messaging
