Junior Database Engineer

Summary

The job involves administering database systems for customers, performance tuning, implementing and maintaining backup strategies, providing migration support for cloud projects, and handling patching, upgrades, etc. The ideal candidate should have 4 to 5 years of experience in database management services for MS SQL Server and Always On, a bachelor's degree in an IT-related field, excellent communication skills in English, and be able to work in rotational shifts.

Requirements

• 4 to 5 years or higher strong technical experience in database management services for platforms - MS SQL Server and Always On
• Bachelors degree in an IT-related field or higher
• Excellent communication skills in English - verbal and written
• Strong presentation/communication/facilitation skills (oral and written)
• Ready to work in rotational shifts as per customers requirements
• Must be able to work as an individual contributor

Responsibilities

• Work as an individual contributor on customer systems to administer both physical and logical database system functions
• Be proactive in performance tuning and optimization to improve database efficiency
• Implement, maintain and test Database Backup and Recovery strategies
• Willing to work in 24/7 shifts as per customer requirements
• Excellent communication skills to attend customer meetings to understand technical requirements
• Provide migration support for Cloud Migration Projects (Any Cloud)
• Provide support during system implementation, production deployments or outages
• Handles Patching, Upgrades ,etc. for the database systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Having scripting knowledge for automating mundane database tasks will be an added advantage
• Knowledge on SQL Clustering and SQL Server Always On
• Knowledge on SQL DR and HA options natively available
• Knowledge of multiple databases systems like Redis ,MongoDB ,Postgres ,Oracle ,etc will be an added advantage
