Junior Health & Safety Officer

Summary

A Junior Health & Safety Officer is needed to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and implement safety management systems in an IT company based in Roodepoort, Gauteng. Key responsibilities include assisting with the implementation of health and safety systems, conducting inspections, identifying and evaluating risks, and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.

Requirements

• Relevant qualification in health and safety (advantageous)
• Minimum 3 years of general health and safety experience
• Computer literacy (MS Office Suite)
• Good knowledge of health and safety regulations
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to meet deadlines

Responsibilities

• Assist with the implementation of health and safety systems across all sites
• Perform inspections and spot checks of fire fighting and detection equipment
• Support the development and implementation of health and safety management systems
• Identify and evaluate risks and develop safe work procedures
• Record and investigate accidents, provide guidance, and ensure proper reporting
• Provide feedback in safety meetings and follow up on health and safety inspections
• Conduct audits and inspections on contractors
• Provide informal health and safety training to employees
• Ensure compliance with health and safety statutory requirements
• Responsible for site induction programs for employees, contractors, and visitors

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in an FMCG environment (recommended)
