Product Developer

Summary

Join our dynamic team as a Junior Product Developer at VM Food Group, where you'll have the opportunity to grow with a fast-growing business. As a Junior Product Developer, you will work in a project-based environment, preparing samples for customers and trade shows, managing sample inventory, and assisting product developers in documenting product information.

Requirements

• An undergraduate degree in food/ nutrition sciences or relevant experience
• New grads with a food science background or relevant product development experience. Experience making samples and strong documentation techniques an asset
• Basic understanding of ingredients and formula portfolios
• Basic knowledge of applicable government regulations (i.e. CFIA / FDA), allergens and Food Safety
• Strong MS Office Suite (including Excel and PowerPoint)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proven experience writing clear, concise and accurate procedural documentation
• Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, investigative, and analytical skills
• Team oriented with excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders as well as cross-functional teams
• Exceptional time management and organizational skills
• Flexible, adaptable and open to wearing many hats in our small, nimble and growing business
• Understanding of food and industry trends
• Motivated with a passion for food; dedicated and reliable performer who consistently delivers results

Responsibilities

• Prepare samples for customers and/or trade shows
• Organize samples inventory
• Manage the sample receiving process with appropriate documentation techniques
• Organize sample inventory adding value to project execution
• Assist product developers in documenting product information, internal product reviews and customer presentations
• Update databases and systems as required (i.e. formulations, new food sources, bill of materials, research and development of raw materials, nutritional fact tables, etc.)
• Assist in developing and testing new and existing ingredients
• Ensure products meet food safety parameters and rules
• Special projects as assigned for the overall benefit of the Company
