Join Sauce Labs as a Junior Network Engineer and contribute to the stability and performance of our network infrastructure. This role involves configuring and maintaining network hardware, troubleshooting network issues, monitoring performance, and participating in upgrades and new deployments. The ideal candidate possesses 1-2 years of hands-on experience with network devices or protocols and a solid understanding of TCP/IP fundamentals. A relevant degree or equivalent experience is required, along with experience configuring Cisco, Juniper, or Aruba devices or a relevant certification. Requirements
- Associate's or Bachelor's of Science degree in a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience
- 1 -2 years of hands-on experience with network devices or protocols
- Experience configuring or upgrading Cisco, Juniper, or Aruba network devices, OR a CCNA, JNCIA, or similar industry certification
- Demonstrable knowledge of network routing protocols such as OSPF, IS-IS, and BGP
- Solid understanding of IPv4 and IPv6 addressing concepts and NAT
- Proficient in TCP/IP basics, including the 3-way handshake, socket states, and common protocols like SSH, HTTP, and HTTPS
Responsibilities
- Assist in the configuration, installation, and maintenance of network hardware, including Cisco NX-OS, IOS-XR, and Juniper Junos devices
- Support senior engineers in troubleshooting and resolving network issues
- Monitor network performance and ensure network availability and reliability
- Participate in the implementation of network upgrades and new deployments
- Learn and apply knowledge of network routing protocols (OSPF, IS-IS, BGP)
- Develop a strong understanding of IPv4 and IPv6 addressing schemes
- Utilize knowledge of TCP/IP fundamentals, including the 3-way handshake, socket states, and common protocols like SSH, HTTP, and HTTPS, to diagnose and resolve connectivity issues
- Document network configurations and procedures
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience augmenting or improving workflows and work items with generative AI systems, such as Google Gemini, OpenAI ChatGPT, or similar
- Hands-on knowledge of automation tools or languages to optimize operations, such as Ansible, Python, or Bash
- Experience troubleshooting HTTP from the client to the server, including interpreting error codes, HAR files, and timeouts
- Knowledge of basic network security elements, such as Access Control Lists (ACLs) and Firewalls
- Experience with cloud provider environments such as AWS or GCP. Familiarity or lab experience with basic cloud networking concepts including VPCs, Availability Zones, NAT gateways, endpoints, and VPN connections
- Knowledge of CI/CD principles and tools
