Lead Lawyer - Investment Compliance

Join Avantia Law, a leading legal services innovator, as a Lead Lawyer specializing in Transaction and Investment Compliance. You will advise top-tier asset managers on compliance risks related to their transactions and investments. This client-facing role requires familiarity with corporate and private equity deal structures and the ability to identify red flags. You will collaborate with a team of experienced lawyers and paralegals, reviewing deal structures and investigating corporate ownership and funds flow. Prior compliance experience is not required; however, a strong commercial awareness and solutions-oriented approach are essential. Requirements

• Licensed to practice law in the UK or Europe (we will consider candidates licensed in other similar jurisdictions)
• 4+ years’ post qualification experience with a background in Corporate M&A, PE, Finance, Transactional or Corporate Support law
• Experience representing asset management, institutional investor or other FS clients
• Strong commercial awareness with a solutions-first approach and strong attention to detail

Responsibilities

• Manage Transaction and Investment Compliance for the world’s leading asset managers
• Be the direct day-to-day contact for clients (both deal teams and legal) advising on compliance risk in connection with their live transactions and existing investments
• Review deal structures and investigate corporate ownership and funds flow to identify red flags including AML, sanctions and reputational risk
• Work closely with our Head of Investment Compliance and a international team of ex-Big Law lawyers and talented paralegals & analysts
